The All-Star Game is fast approaching (at least for all non-Cub players) as is the Trade Deadline for both the MLB and the CFCL. With that comes some subtle changes to the CFCL rules. Here are a couple reminders for new and seasoned owners alike.
Here are the current (as of 6/30/09) FAAB for each team.
Ruffins .79
Bulls .75
Red Hots .69
Copperfields .64
MooreBetter .62
Kenndoza Line .60
Revenge .54
Dem Rebels .48
DoorMatts .40
Clowns .33
As trades take place in the MLB, here are a couple of things to keep in mind. If one of your players gets traded to the AL, you can still keep that player on your roster (active or reserved) for the remainder of the season. Of course you can also release that player, but you don't HAVE to.
If you bid on a Free Agent, whether traded from the AL (DeRosa) or not, if your bid is .25 or higher you have to keep that player going into next year or lose half the salary (rounded up) off your $2.60 at next year's draft.
The Current Salary Cap for your active roster is $3.00. That increases as of noon on the day of the All-Star Game (this year Tuesday, July 14th). From that point the Salary Cap goes up to $3.50 until noon September 1st.
Our trade deadline (CFCL) is noon, August 1st. I quote the Constitution: The in-season salary cap and Home Town Discount plan for B-contract players were put in place for the 2001 season to discourage dumping. Even with these measures in place, it is still expected that each CFCL owner will consider “the integrity of the league” as well as the good of their own team when considering trades. 'Nuff said.
One last thing. Keep in mind that we are all subject to a minimum number of at bats and innings pitched by our active players. Sportsline has a nice feature telling you how many you have year-to-date, what the requirement is and whether or not you're on pace.
Have a Happy and Safe 4th!
