I am willing to admit I am blatantly stealing the following from our Rotisserie Forefathers.
"And unto you this is born to you a savior and his name is Andrew McCutchen."
The long awaited arrival, and I mean long awaited, finally happened.
McCutchen became a glimmer in the Rebels eyes way back on August 1st for 2006. The Ruffins were trying to make a run for the title and it was the trade deadline. The Ruffins had their eye on a couple of non-star veterans to bolster their lineup.
I still remember the conversation.
The Professor offered McCutchen and said he had been at a minor league game in North Carolina with some colleagues when McCutchen hit a homerun deep over the centerfield scoreboard (for the visitors, if I remember right). Dave stood up and applauded. When asked why he would cheer for the opposition, Dave pointed to the field and said "He's a Ruffin!!"
That sold the Rebels and the deal was struck. The Rebels traded David Dellucci and Glendon Rusch to the Ruffins for Sean Marshall, George Kottaras and Andrew McCutchen.
McCutchen's opening numbers were 2 for 4 with a walk (.600 OBP), a run and a stolen base. Can't wait 'til Friday when I can activate him!
TRIVIA QUESTION. In the original Rotisserie book who was "the savior born unto you"?

TRIVIA QUESTION. In the original Rotisserie book who was "the savior born unto you"? I knew this instantly, but wanted to give some others a chance to answer. Since no one else is chiming in, I'll nab all the glory - the answer is Shawon Dunston. What do I win? BTW, many years ago I posted excerpts from the original Rotisserie Legue book as part of the weekly CFCL reports. The bit Rich is referring to was from the Rotisserie League Calendar, which is still online from when I posted it: www.geocities.com/copgeek/RL-Calendar.html
