Dateline Cincinnati -
Due to the later than expected arrival of Wunderkind Jay Bruce, Corey Patterson (he of the .240 OBP) has been optioned to Triple A. The same Corey Patterson that the CCC brazenly pointed out could not be had for .23.
While I would like to say that I'm a chivalrous kind of dude and don't like to kick a guy when he's down, I would be lying. The reason I won't kick the Clowns is that Patterson was on my OF list as a guy to round out the Rebels 4th or 5th spot. Fortunately I didn't still have .24 left in my rubber coin holder that opens when you squeeze the sides together. Otherwise I would be looking to replace Co-Pat - and to date I don't have a Jay Bruce to call up from my minor league system.
But on the upside Mike, I think you have a strong shot at the Nick Esasky Award!

I think I owned him a couple of years after he retired. We should just rename this award the Grage ....

One month left in the season, and the most important distinction is up for grabs: The Nick Esasky Award. While Matt was backing his .17 Chad Cordero (just 4.1 innings pitched and zero saves, but a 2.08 ERA should disqualify him) three months ago, Coulter's .24 Corey Patterson is hitting just .195, I humbly submit Andruw Jones as not only a candidate for the 2008 Nick Esasky Award, but a candidate for Worst Fantasy Season of All Time.
Ok, I overpaid on draft day - 29 cents - because I was desperate for an outfielder, but even if I only paid .17 or .24 for him, surely he'd be the worst value in the league. In addition to two (or is it three?) stints on the DL, he's delivered just a .161 batting average in 205 at-bats, with three freaking homers. This is a guy who hit 41 just two seasons ago. Jason LaRue is better than Andruw Jones right now.

I hear your pain Kenn, but how would you like to be the Dodgers? They paid a little more than .29 (and I think have him for next year as well). It is amazing the drop off from two years ago, but then again - in the past two years hasn't there been a significant increase in the testing of banned substances and an outright ban on amphetimines? I'm not saying . . . I'm just saying.
