Frank Robinson played his last game in 1976 (for Cleveland), and Nomar Garciaparra played his first twenty years later, in 1996 (for Boston).
One player was a teammate of both men - who is he?
I provided the teams to give you a starting point - see if you can guess him without resorting to baseball-referernce.com

I actually know an answer!!!!
I won't give the answer though, I will just offer the following: It wasn't in 1996 that "he" and Garciaparra played together.
Oh what the h eck, maybe I will answer, Nah, I won't. But I do know the answer. I was almost "thrown" off for "starters". Then I "struggled for a awhile" remembered the answer and it was a real "relief"!
I also knew that the "Cubs" had to "play" into this answer in some way.
The only reason I know this answer is because I drafted Nomar in Harry Witzke's fantasy baseball league in 1997 and won the Championship because of him in 1998. I kinda discovered Nomar, at least in that league. I always liked him, at least until "he switched mid way" last season!

It wasn't in 1996 that "he" and Garciaparra played together. This is correct - Garciaparra debuted in '96, but that doesn't mean that was the year the player in question was his teammate. And it's clear from the rest of Steve's post that he knows exactly who the player is. Well done, Steve! At last a non-Rich trivia winner! Well-done, Steve-O. Any other takers?

Well done Steve! And excellent trivia quesiton David.
I wouldn't have gotten it without cheating on baseball-reference.com (which I did visit after reading Steve's answer). I didn't realize he (the answer, not Steve) went back to Boston to finish his career. I thought it ended in St. Louis.
