In digging through the briefcase (see The Ninth Man on the "Other Baseball" thread) I found some other goodies. Here's a Trivia Question for you.
What do Andre Thornton, Mike Vail and Bret Barberie all have in common?

Not exactly, although I understand the Barberie Coast is beautiful this time of year.
Here's a hint. We're in the CFCL. Think continuing problem until recently.

We're in the CFCL. Think continuing problem until recently. What? The Picts were actually making an impact in the standings? [I've got nothing here]

Nick (and anyone else following this thread) -
Don't get too hot if you couldn't corner the answer. It may take you three or four attempts before you come up with it.

Based on the hints, I'd imagine that the answer is that each of the three played different positions for the Cubs (Thornton=1B, Vail=OF, Barberie=2B) but ended up playing a couple of games at 3B during their tenure on the North Side.

David's right. Barberie, Vail and Thornton each played 3 or 4 games at thirdbase for the Cubs.

My bust, actually here are the exact numbers -
Andre Thornton - 3 Mike Vail - 3 Bret Barberie - 2
Did you know that Gary Scott and Chico Walker played the same number of games at 3B - 61?
Here's a couple of other questions for you.
#1 Who played the most games at 3B for the Cubs since Santo retired?
#2 Of Keith Moreland, Vance Law and Steve Buechele, who played the most games at 3B for the Cubs?

Well, before Kelly jumps in to go down memory lane of the "Chico Walker Incident", here are the answers.
#1 Most games at 3B since Santo retired - Ron Cey 518. Although Aramis should pass that up in a couple of years.
#2 Steve Buechele 323 Vance Law 269 Keith Moreland 195
Another interesting note -
Carmen Fanzone (trivia answer for every AFLAC quiz according to Steve Stone) played more games at third (35) than Howard (Ho-Ho, according to Harry) Johnson (34).

Carmen Fanzone (trivia answer for every AFLAC quiz according to Steve Stone) played more games at third (35) than Howard (Ho-Ho, according to Harry) Johnson (34). Carmen Fanzone - he's still active as a jazz trumpeter in California. Besides being a fine musician in his own right, he's married to outstanding but underrated singer Sue Raney. A message board I belong to had been discussing one of Sue's albums and Carmen posted a response. I wrote him an e-mail asking if he was the same Fanzone who had played for the Cubs, and he sent a very nice reply saying that he was and thanks for remembering him. My brush with fame. David
