Okay, the Top Five post got me thinking. Way back when there was a CFCL Newsletter that was mailed out via snailmail, I had asked everyone to submit their All-Time Lineup in Baseball History. Taking a page from that book and a page from the Top Five book, give me your All-Time favorite (not necessarily best) lineup of your favorite team. One player per position and since we're talking about baseball and not softball - no DH. Eight position players, starting pitcher and relief pitcher. Let's see your favorite 10.

Hey Steve-O, I think Rich was asking for our favorite line-up from our favorite team. So you should have listed all Brewers.
And Rich -- when you say "All time favorite" do you really mean "all-time", or does this have the same "players you've seen play" restriction as the top 5?
Gotta run now, but will post my lineup later.

First clearing up some business:
It looks like Steve did list all Brewers. So he's cool on that front (not cool for being a Brewers and Packers fan, however ;D)
My intent was your favorite team (Cubs, Brewers, even White Sox if that's possible) of your favorite players that you saw play. So while I would love to put Ron Santo and Billy Williams and Ernie Banks in my lineup, they were just a year or two early for me.
These could be recent favorites, but I found the fun in this to walk down memory lane (like David did with Dave Kingman) and remember the feelings we had as kids about the players we were watching.
Steve, I would allow Hank Aaron to be in your lineup since you were able to see him play as a Brewer.
Here's my lineup in the batting order I would use.
CF Bob Dernier 2B Ryne Sandberg 1B Derek Lee RF Andre Dawson C Jody Davis 3B Bill Madlock LF Gary Matthews SS Ivan DeJesus SP Rick Sutcliffe RP Bruce Sutter
Manager Don Zimmer (Nice addition Steve!)
I'll stick with this lineup, although I found that I wasn't able to separate my adult observations from child feelings as well as David was. I remember back in '79 being a huge Kingman fan. But soon after he left, I started to realize all the BS he brought (dead rat to a reporter, spending the day on his boat on Lake Michigan instead of being at Wrigley for Dave Kingman Day) so I couldn't put him in LF. Plus I have such tremendous memories about "Sarge" saluting the Bleacher Bums and running to first knocking his helmet off, that he has to be in the lineup.
Of course it looks like I reverse myself by having D. Lee as my 1B instead of Buckner. Buckner was my favorite Cub growing up, so he's on my top 5 list, but Lee is becoming fast becoming my favorite 1B of the Cubs that I've seen play.
As Jeb Bartlett once said to Sam Seaborn in the Oval Office "I don't know Sam, I'm a puzzle."

Rich, I am trying to follow the rules after I was admonished by David last night. While I would love to list Hank Aaron as one of my favorite position players for the Brewers, we are not allowed to list the DH! He only played OF in 4 games over his final two seasons in Milwaukee. I know I could tweak the rule, but I am bound by ethics to not stretch the truth. I don't actually recall seeing him in any of those four games. But I most definitely saw him hit one of his last HRs in at a game Milwaukee!
