I heard the news last night, but am just coming to grips with the dire news that Dusty's lap dog, Neifi Perez, was signed to a *@^!%& 2 year contract. Supposedly, he's only going to be a backup, but I don't buy it. Now they'll probably lowball Furcal because they have Neifi to fall back on. More like falling on your own sword.
Now I've been a huge fan of Hendry's ever since he was hired, but I'm starting to think he doesn't get it either ....

I agree Matt - truly depressing. Now, it's true that Neifi only got as much playing time as he did last year because of all the injuries, and as a role player he may not be bad. But why for two years? Ick.

Why for two years? Why? It's simple really. I'll let you in on a trade secret.
I received an e-mail earlier this week from Jim Hendry (most of you didn't know that Jimbo - he let's me call him that - and I communicate all the time). He saw the CFCL standings for 2005 (and 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 . . .) and decided to give me an early Christmas gift.
He said he wanted to show there are worse GMs out there than the one running Dem Rebels (Jim can be so sweet). Of course he did say he would need to save face by picking up Furcal and Pierre this off season and hoped that wouldn't have any negative impact on Dem Rebels public perception.
