Matt Clement fell off hard at the end of last season for the Cubs. Lo and behold he does the same thing for the BoSox this season and yet Francona decides that he needs to start Game One. Not too surprisingly the White Sox torch him for five in the first (and ruin a perfectly good beginning to the post season).
I like Francona (and you can't argue with the World Championship from last year) but this smacks of Bakeresque competency.
