I heard that Carlos Delgado's recently-signed contract includes a "Barry Bonds Clause". If Carlos wins the NL MVP award, he gets a $100,000 bonus. If he finishes second in the voting to Barry Bonds specifically, he gets $50,000. If he finishes second to anyone else, he doesn't get anything.
Wow, that says a lot about Bonds and his affect on/stature in the game (or, if you prefer, the affect of his chemist - but let's not go there). The only other player I could see having a similar clause about him would be Babe Ruth.
