I actually signed on tonight to see if anyone knows a really good hot stove site for the latest gossip on free agents and trades. As a Brewers fan, I want to know where Kolb or Podsednik are going and who we will get for them. Rumors, rumors, rumors.

I assume you already know about Kolb to Atlanta... For rumors, etc., the best place I know of is the RotoJunkie Bullpen: www.rotojunkie.com/forums

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Sox trading Carlos Lee to the Brewers for Rich's favorite Brewer, Scott Podsednik, and Luis Vizcaino. Rich, don't you wish you had traded Scott to me one of the many times I asked for him in a deal? But seriously, ouch dude. Mahalo Matt

Wow, I knew some things were up with the Crew, but I gotta think about all these changes!
And Byrd could follow!
Is this good or bad. Podesednik, Kolb, Vizciano a minor leaguer to be named and possibly Bennett for Carlos Lee, a top Pitching Prospect, a minor pitching prospect and possibly Byrd.
Any opinions?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Sox trading Carlos Lee to the Brewers for Rich's favorite Brewer, Scott Podsednik, and Luis Vizcaino. This is a bummer. Here I thought I had picked up an extra closer when the Brewers traded Kolb to Atlanta, figuring Vizcaino would be the guy in Milwaukee. A day later, Luis is out of the league. Great trade for the Brewers though. Podsednick just isn't that good (outside of fantasy baseball) and Vizcaino's had one problem throughout his career - the longball - which isn't going to be solved by playing half his games in the South Side Bandbox.

OK, here's my take on the recent turn of events.
#1 Kolb to Atlanta - preferred he went to the Cubs, but this (for the time being) still gives Dempster a shot at closing, so I can live with it.
#2 Pod out. While I agree his OBP reeked, 120 steals in two years was awesome (especially at .08) so my thoughts are THE BREWERS SUCK!!! And the White Sox aren't much better.
If you guys needs me next summer, just come on down to somewhere around 8th to 11th place and we can chat.

I love both deals from the Brewers' perspective. Each of the three players dealt by the Brewers were acquired as castoffs from other teams and traded at their highest possible value. In return, they get a top pitching prospect (although they are likely to mess up by sticking him in the rotation right away) and a young power hitter with more potential to tap into.
