Any thoughts on who gets the call on Tuesday?
And will the Vets finally vote Santo in?

I think Eckersley will make it this year. For several years he was as close to automatic as a closer as you can get, and was no slouch as a starter either.
I'd like to see Ryno make it, but based on last year's voting, that doesn't look likely.
In my original post, I asked whether the veterans may finally vote Santo in, but now that I think about it the vets only vote every other year under the new rules, right? That's a shame, because Santo's sounding none too healthy lately.

David -
You're right about Ron not being eligible this year. Last year when he (and Ryne) didn't make it, I remember there being comments that Ron would have to wait two years.
In your above post I voted for Eck based on the way you asked the question.
Interestingly, if it were up to the general public no one (even Moli) would get in. I went to a web site where they asked the viewer to submit their "Hall of Fame ballot". I submitted mine (can't remember all the people I voted for - there were seven) and after submitting mine I saw the current results. Molitor was second and no one had more than 60% of the vote.
I know the general public has their biases and may not have seen each player play, but I would assume anyone going to this site would be a baseball fan.

Wow, that's odd. All the speculation I've seen (by sportswriters) has had Molitor pretty much a lock. I wonder if the fact that he spent so much time as a DH is working against him. Has there been a Hall of Famer elected yet who was primarily a DH? I can't think of one, though if Molitor doesn't make it I'm sure Edgar Martinez will in 5-6 years (has he officially retired yet?). The results of the Internet Hall of Fame voting have been published at Baseball Prospectus: premium.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2501Note, these are results of Internet-based voting by baseball fans, NOT the official results (which will be released tomorrow, I think). Both Molitor (80%) and Eckersley (82%) were voted in. Ryno fell just a little short, at 69%, which was good for 4th in the voting. Blyleven was 3rd at 73%. The only first-timer other than Molitor and Eckersley to be named on at least 5% of the ballots was Joe Carter, who just barely made the 5% mark. David

Did Bernie Brewer make it into the Mascot wing yet? I know Rockin Robin, Molly and Uke made it but it is an injustice to see Bernie not get his due. Or Bonnie Brewer for that matter! (I went to high school with the first Bonnie and she was hot). But I digress. For clarification, I am talking about the original Bernie in the Chalet and Beer Keg era at old County Stadium. His son, Bernie the II has a nice new condo Chalet at Miller Park and is much softer than Big strapping Pappa Bernie the I.
The Sausages are eligible next year since they retired five years ago, but like Roger Clemens decided to unretire the next season.
Bratwurst is the team MVP of the group and will be the first of the four to grace the Hall in the class of '05. Then it is at least a sausage a year for the next three years! Randall Simon has agreed to introduce Brat when the big day comes.

Hilarious post, Steve! Although how you can be so clever at 2:00 AM is beyond me. Maybe you were just punchy. Anyway, thanks for the chuckle.
By the way, there are a couple Bernie the Brewer avatars available for you - though I think they are the softer Bernie II rather than the Buff Bernie.

While I have been widely classified as a geek throughout my life (and the tradition is being carried on by my wife and girls today), even I don't know the details of mascots and their status in the Hall of Fame. Steve, in addition to being a Packer and Brewer fan, you are just plumb strange!
