The Picts Winter Caravan last weekend was not all fun and games. Our own Eric Gagne, fresh off a Cy Young season, has started grumbling. We have been in contact with Mr. Gagne's agent about restructuring his contract to defer about 15.5 cents of the $.62 he is owed over the next two seasons to help accommodate the addition of Jim Thome. While we showed great generosity when inking Eric to a contract last spring, he understandably feels that his 2003 season commands more respect. Bloomington is currently in a recession and the bean counters at McHansen Fieldhouse see a problem with revenues in the coming season.
While Mr. Gagne and the Picts are definitely still on cordial terms and he has repeatedly said he would be happy to remain in Picts tartan in the coming season, he did ask we inquire about trading to a team with more salary room.
