Sportsline's deadline for transactions changes every day depending on the starting time of the day's first game (I think it's about 30 minutes before game time). This caused major headaches on days when there was a game starting at Noon or earlier because by the time our Noon transaction deadline hit, Sportsline's deadline had already passed, so if there were moves to be entered, I had to enter them multiple time in order to be effective on the correct day. Adopting Sportsline's deadline would eliminate the need to do this. If this were coupled with owner-entry of transactions, it would also relieve me of the need to decide whether to process a transaction that came in three minutes after the deadline. If everyone was entering their own moves it's a pretty clear call - either they made the deadline or they didn't.

I agree with this.
I know I am quick hitting with minimal explanation (which I'm sure is a good thing to my fellow owners) but I am pressed for time tonight and the next week or two aren't going to be any less busy.
Just like George Bailey in "Its a Wonderful Life" when the Bank Examiner shows up unexpectedly at the ol' Building and Loan, our little Bank's Examiners are paying us a post holiday visit the first week of January. Obviously I have a ton a "cooking of the books" to complete before they come (Dear FRB Examiner who may be reading this that was meant merely as seasonal humor and not a truthful admission of wrongdoing. You will have to catch me before I admit to anything!).
Not to mention I bought my first Christmas gift tonight and only have about 25 left to find.
Oh yeah, some family health problems that force me back and forth to Milwaukee haven't helped either.
Merry Fricking Christmas! ;-)

I'll try to keep my comments germane even though there are three related topics.
W/R/T using the sportsline transaction deadline: either we do that or we set a deadline like 9am when there is no way on god's green earth anyone is playing baseball professionally.

...except in Japan.
Seriously though, this is a big issue. If everyone is responsible for their own, no one can be blamed. On the other hand, not everyone can do this at 9:00 on weekdays. I already got busted once for using the internet at work. My boss did his online fantasy football draft from his office, so perhaps he'd understand. Then again, perhaps he wouldn't. I'd hate to get in trouble at work because I have to activate Aaron Miles before 9:00.

One last thing about the time of day (if we decide on ANY time of day)...can we please put into the constitution the time zone for any transactional deadlines? I know most people are central, and it may even be assumed, but there have been a few times since I moved to Cincinnati that I thought I got something in under the deadline, only to find I was off by 55 minutes. That's my own fault, I know, but just to avoid any confusion or argument. We should say "6:00 central" or whatever. I think most of the Constitution covers this ok, but there are probably a few that do not.

I think I'd be in favor of using Sportsline's deadline in conjunction with owner moves. As long as I don't miss any runs or go to the NAMBLA webpage, my Captain doesn't care what we do online. Mahalo Matt PS. For any of your pervs out there, it's the North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes ...
