Guys, I've just noticed that the final standings as they appear on the Sportsline website are not exactly right. There are a number of teams with the wrong point total and in one case that causes a couple teams to flip-flop in the standings. The Stones actually belong in 8th place, while the Picts belong in 9th -- they're reversed in the standings.
It's not because Sportsline got the stats wrong, but because they don't handle our rules exactly right.
According to the Constitution, if a team fails to meet the minimum of 1000 total IP, that team should receive zero points in the "rate" pitching stats (ERA, WHIP, K:BB) but they should maintain their place in the standings in those categories (that way teams lower down in those categories don't benifit from someone above them slacking off).
This year Da Paul Meisters failed to meet the IP minimum (by a long, long ways) and Sportsline correctly assigned them zero points in ERA and WHIP (but not K:BB), but it also dropped them down to the bottom of those categories, so a number of teams are credited with points they shouldn't receive.
After re-figuring the the standings to reflect everyone's proper standing, the Picts ended up losing the single point that was keeping them ahead of the Stones. Other teams lost points from their totals as well, but that was the only affect on actual placement in the standings.
I'll be positng more about this in the Report that will be on the website in the next day or two, but I wanted to put out the word here as well.
Sorry, Nick...

Hey Nick -
Way to go out on a limb! "Next year we will be better".
Currently there are only nine teams in the CFCL. Are you saying you're confident you can finish higher than one of us?
WHOA! A shot across the bow at holiday time! That's just dirty pool. How's the Rebel Flannal doing in The Oklahoma Fieldhouse?
Seriously, glad that things are settling down for you at last. Can't wait to see you at the draft.
We'll raise a slice of pizza to you at the Banquet.

I warned you at the last Auction that my team was MUCH better than yours, and see (once again) I was right! That is, IF "much better" is measured in half points! Any way, I would gladly give you 8th place for a slew of young players...think about it! BTW sorry to hear life was tough for you over the past year and a half. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Trust me, I know!!!

Currently there are only nine teams in the CFCL. Are you saying you're confident you can finish higher than one of us? All I have to do is beat you, my designated rival, and my season will be complete. WHOA! A shot across the bow at holiday time! That's just dirty pool. How's the Rebel Flannal doing in The Oklahoma Fieldhouse? The Oklahoma Fieldhouse???! Isweartogod if you were in the same room as me I'd...prolly offer you a beer to get you drunk and then size up my chances at taking you. And you, Steve, just relish how close we came this season. With all the new toys you picked up at Christmas^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hthe trading deadline, you'll likely leave the Picts in the dust. And thanks. Things are definitely picking up.
