"If he wants to be part of this winning tradition that we've established for the last three months..."
Classic. Enjoyed the column this week Rich.

Thanks Kenn, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks also for noticing the winning tradition line. I was hoping it wasn't too subtle.
Hey, on an unrelated note - I was going to include this tidbit in next week's Monroe Doctrine, but it really doesn't fit.
Ron Santo (commenting on one of the Cubs, I can't remember which one): "He's taken to wearing his pants around his knees."
I swear he said this today during the Cardinal/Cub game and Hughes didn't laugh once. Immediately my mind flashed back to Harry saying "We see Marla Collins without her pants today." And Boudreau and Caray laughing for the next three innings.

Now that I think about it, I think it was Caray and Hamilton laughing uncontrollably. Possibly the last moment of fun they had together.

I've heard of that line, but I did not witness it. My favorite Caray line was when he called Bret Barberie "Bret Barbecue", and Steve Stone lost it. Even better, the camera cut to a guy across Sheffield who was cooking out on the grill. A perfect confluence of events.
