Good morning Y'all, Now that my first round is complete and sent in, I thought I'd try to start a discussion about Winter Waivers. One of the Opinion Survey questions was if you were happy with the shortening of rounds. I was in favor of this move except for the first round. My idea is to go with a hybrid approach. The first round is always the toughest so why don't we give ourselves a full week to digest the cuts, then go to a 1/2 week round for the rest of Winter Waivers. That would be the best of both worlds, to coin a phrase. Well, I hope you guys had an excellent Christmas and you didn't get too many ties. Also have a Happy New Year and a Merry Kwanzaa if that floats your boat. Unfortunately, I have to work New Year's Eve. I would have loved to have scooped up a couple of Bears tickets for tomorrow night's game. I'll never again see Packer tickets go this cheaply. *sigh* Mahalo Matt

Matt -
What a lucid thought, especially coming from a guy who wants to draft at Steve's office for the sole purpose of xeroxing his keister (David didn't reveal the name, but this has Graging Bulls written all over it).
This may be something that we want to modify for next off season. After the first round there isn't as much time needed for research (or in the Rebels case - no research necessary).
Any other thoughts out there?

Well Mister Packer Man, maybe you were celebrating too hard to notice that the Bears defense only gave up 13 points. The other 14 were a couple of INT returns for touchdowns. Favre completed just 1/2 his passes and they held Green to 70 yards. I think the defense did a good job stopping the Pack. BTW, if my butt isn't allowed, I'll have to xerox the other side. One last thought for you Rich (you never said it had to be about baseball), I wish that glass panel was heated. *brrrrrrr* Mahalo Matt

Steve,
I was replying to your contention that "Even their Defense stunk it up". I was just pointing out the ways that they did NOT suck as you contended. So please tell me exactly how their defense stunk up the joint. Even though they were playing all second stringers the second half.
Why are you feathers all ruffled? Relax dude and celebrate the Pack not having a losing record this year. YAY! The Bears were tied for 2nd in total points this year. Oh boy, their offense is horrible. Now before you start frothing at the mouth again, I know they scored 9 TDs on defense and special teams. Subtract those 63 points and they still finish in 10th overall. OMG what a nightmare.
Man, how bad was the Packers offense if they finished in 23rd in scoring overall and that includes 5 defensive TDs. I can throw stats at you all night if you want to play Stevie. The Lions scored more points than your "beloved" Pack. Whoa, that really sucks. How does it feel to score fewer points than the second worst team in the league?

Pardon me for interrupting this thrilling football banter, but I just wanted to say that I think Matt's suggestion of making the first Winter Waiver period a week long is a good one. Definitely worth adding to a second rule change ballot later this spring.

For the lack of baseball content I apologize profusely! Rich I still support this idea.
I love when Matt gets pissy!

I notice a bit of thread trimming has occurred.
heh.
Makes no difference to me whether we extend the first deadline out a week or not. I could use that time to figure out why Tomko suddenly became a commodity...or remember that he's now an RP and may finally have some utility.
