Bob,
Don't listen to any of those guys. They are not here to help you. They are not your friends, they are your competitors, for goodness sake.
I, on the other hand, having been the new guy myself once, knowing the feelings you are currently experiencing (so full of questions, confusion and yet the wonderment of it all) know that I am here to help you. You could say guide you even. While David pretends he understands, he is ruthless. I, too, have won a recent championship and would like to impart upon you the insights of my own success.
I think it is a good strategy to "punt" QS. And while we're at it, I think it makes even more sense to "Punt" another category each year. Why do one when you can do two, is my motto.
Why look at Matt G's success with that strategy! Give it a shot. Write back if you need more advice.
Oh by the way, if you want to move some of the deadwood on your hitting roster that are getting those RBI and TB, I am here for you, my friend!

Dozers? I've never been the type of guy who has loaded my roster with starting pitching because there just aren't that many good starting pitchers to go around. I like to minimize my damage with the likes of Dan Wheeler. That said, I feel like I have more starters than Matt says. In addition to my three active ones, I have Pedro Astacio (DL) and Scott Olsen (will be called up when Florida needs a fifth starter, probably this weekend), as well as middle relievers like Jon Rauch and Aaron Heilman who will get some spot starts. That said, the thought of purposely "punting" any category seems repugnant, but there are times when you almost have no choice (like your closers going down). I *am* apparently punting getting stats from a third baseman this year. Looks like we're in the same boat Dozer. Only you spent half as much as I did to punt third base .... Anyways, I whiffed on Olsen on your reserve list but Astacio was the only potential starter I saw, thus the " & 1". Heilman could get some starts but I didn't want to list every pitcher who could possibly get starts otherwise there'd be like a 100. There are only 80 spots available in a 5 man rotation for the league too. Plus, I was doing this in like 10 minutes before getting ready to watch the Cubs lose this afternoon. Zambrano just might be the dumbest pitcher on the face of the planet .... BTW, Victor Zambrano continues my streak of non-QS starts to 11. Little Willy took him out after just 5 innings and 87 pitches. I can feel it. My first QS is just around the corner. Mahalo Matt PS. *sigh* Kyle Davies just gave up 3 home runs in the first inning so now my streak moves on to 12 games. This sucks.

Thanks Steve......I was waiting for the truth to be unveiled.......and true colors to be shown I most probably will begin e-mailing you directly for advice if that's ok with you Wouldn't want everyone to be imparted with your wisdom.........just curious.....did any of the more recent "new guys" get swept under your wing? It's such a nice feeling to know you guys are all there for me.....Thanks.....especially you Steve.

It's such a nice feeling to know you guys are all there for me.....Thanks.....especially you Steve. Isn't it obvious by the current standings that I am helping a few "old" and newer guys? Rich, Nick and Matt, don't give up, my advice will pay big dividends to...someone! Bob, you gotta slow down on the emails though, my mail box is full! Where to begin? Yes, go ahead and drop F. Lopez, he can't possibly earn the salary you have him at. Oh another new one just in...Turnbow, sure he is average and I suppose I can take him off you hands, but Mirabelli is a little more than I would normally pay for him. And, no there is no need to sweeten the deal more, that would be unfair. I can't take Lopez in addition to Turnbow. It just wouldn't feel right. Ok, I will get to the other 47 emails later tonight. :typicalnewguywithlotsofquestions...geez:
